Chef Mussa Khan from the Islamabad Serena Hotel will offer an unforgettable menu at an exclusive evening of Pakistani cuisine at Diwan. Join Chef Patrick Riley in welcoming this guest Master Chef to the Aga Khan Museum! BIOGRAPHY Raised in Hunza, a valley known for its spectacular scenery, majestic mountains and glittering lakes, Mussa grew up surrounded by the rhythm of the seasons and fresh produce from the fields. Developing a keen interest in gastronomy at an early age, he became a chef at the age of 19. Mussa’s culinary career began in Gilgit Serena Hotel as chef de partie, passing through all stations of the kitchen and learning how to how to cook with care and passion. In 2001 Mussa joined Islamabad Serena Hotel, where he spent his formative years training with renowned Chef Mark Wilson. Chef Wilson helped him shape his style and depth of knowledge in cooking. In 2010 Chef Mussa extended his culinary reach internationally, bringing his artistry to Egypt’s Steinberger Nile Palace as an Executive Sous Chef. In 2011 he served as an Executive Chef in Kabul Serena before returning to the Islamabad Serena Hotel in 2013. Chef Mussa is the recipient of several culinary honours, including a letter of appreciation from the CEO during the visit of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan and Prince Charles to the Altit Fort. He was also awarded a certificate from the Chef of Le Cordon Bleu Paris Mr. Philip for the joint French food promotion with Islamabad Serena Hotel. As Executive Sous Chef of Islamabad Serena Hotel, Mussa is an effective team leader who can handle multifaceted situations while taking time to educate the chefs and their purpose within dish presentation. Using his endless experience and creativity, he also manages special events and banquets. Chef Mussa loves the freedom of expression that cooking gives him and continues to create innovative new recipes with vibrant flavours.

McEwan Foods took over the reins of the spot last year, doing an upscale (if not always entirely authentic) take on the region’s many rich flavours.
